Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Toolmaker Leader without more than normal supervision. – Experience performing the following journeyman duties: Programming, setting up and operating machines of the machinist trade, i.e., internal and external grinders, tool and cutter grinders, milling machines, lathes, shapers, and profile grinders; to include material selection and machining to very close tolerances. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand, stoop, bend and reach. Required to lift/carry up to 44 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices/other employees are available to assist with lifts of 45 lbs and over. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in a machine shop environment wherein there is danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles, and hot metal; possibility of skin irritations from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds; danger to the fingers, hands and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces, and moving parts of machines. Subject to the usual dirt and noise of machine shop activities.
