Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months or 5 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves 1) analysis data to support conclusion or recommendations for military personnel actions; 2) performing clerical or technical work supporting personnel screening in the areas of fingerprinting, submission of initial investigation data/requests; 3) applying human resources regulations, standards, and policies for reports and processing of actions for military and civilian personnel. OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources, Criminal Justice, Business Administration or Business Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Human Resources Technology Usage Personnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
About the Position: About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant responsible for performing clerical or technical work supporting personnel screening in the areas of fingerprinting, submission of initial investigation data/requests in support of HSPD-12, hiring actions, and CYS and youth programs, and one or more military personnel programs, operations or functions.
