To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT (S): Individual Occupational Requirements Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education Major study – general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreations (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. GS-07: 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement OR Experience Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty area of recreation Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs. Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels. Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations. GS-07: Candidate must have completed 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located in the Health Promotion/Disease Prevention, Division of Community Health Service, Four Corners Regional Health Center, Red Mesa, AZ. Purpose of this position is to perform duties as a community fitness and exercise program coordinator to develop programs and events, provide training to other exercise/fitness leaders, coordinate physical activity education programs in the schools, and oversee community based exercise program at the many communities served by FCRHC.
