Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with working in a Federal, State, municipal, local or private organization that involves the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. Maintaining order by patrolling perimeters, protecting life, writing and reviewing incident reports and responding to emergency situations and security breaches. Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans’ preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Incident Response Physical Security Search Techniques Security Equipment Operation Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicant who have held a General Schedule (GS) position with the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more that 2 grades with the preceding 52 weeks.
About the Position: Serve as an armed security guard that performs various aspects of law enforcement work designed to maintain law and order and preserve the peace for the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Campus and outlying clinics and buildings.
