ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN

GS-11: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-10) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector maintaining critical Naval Air Traffic Control, Air Navigational Aids and Landing systems (NAALS), communication, meteorological, and airport electronic systems by installing, testing, and modifying electronic equipment and systems to meet Command requirements, developing corrective action procedures and ensuring all required tools are available for forecasted maintenance. GS-09: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector maintaining critical Naval Air Traffic Control, Air Navigational Aids and Landing systems (NAALS), communication, meteorological, and airport electronic systems by assisting with installing, testing, and modifying electronic equipment and systems to meet Command requirements. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves frequent exposure to dangerous situations unique to communications facilities and navigational aids operating in an active airfield environment with time constraints, outdoors, and during inclement weather. Often works atop vans, steel platforms, tall ladders, scaffolding (up to 140 ft) with frequent exposure to high voltage (up to 30,000 volts) and radio frequency transmission sources (up to 80,000 watts). Work requires a range of safety and other precautions where conditions cannot be controlled.
