In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes (1) Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters, (2) A practical understanding of civilian and military training programs and their objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements, and (3) Performance of support duties that facilitate the work of professional education personnel in education and training activities. OR EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Basic knowledge of the civilian and military training programs, their objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements. Knowledge of and ability to use various applications related to grogram area, such as Personnel Data System and Personnel Concept III System. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Qualified typist is required. Working knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to distribute mail, and telephone, keep appointment calendar, maintain files/office forms, and order supplies. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
