Correctional Program Officer

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards ). Correctional Institution Administration Series 0006 (opm.gov) GS-13: To qualify at the GS 13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS 12 grade level as a lead or supervisor monitoring, reviewing or evaluating regional or national federal detention/transport programs, such a coordinating educational, social service, health care, and rehabilitative activities; assist with the development of policy, standards and procedures for corrections/detention and/or rehabilitation programs; and provide recommendations to senior level officials to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations for a corrections/detention programs and/or other contracted or rehabilitation programs and taking effective measures on resolving issues. NOTE: To be eligible for Secondary Law Enforcement Coverage, you must 1) move directly from a federal Primary/Rigorous position; 2) complete 3 years of service in a primary/rigorous position, and; 3) must be continuously employed in a secondary position(s) since moving from a primary/rigorous position. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, District 8-Corrections in Vancouver, Washington. The incumbent provides management, oversight, and supervision of a detention facility and activities in a given region.
