TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (SPECIAL OPERATIONS)

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis; to include practical experience with special operations forces in one or more of the following subject matter areas: 1) Joint SOF Doctrine/SOF Command and Control (C2) structure, 2) SOF Air Operations, 3) SOF Maritime Operations, 4) Unconventional Warfare, 5) Counterterrorism, 6) Psychological Operations (PSYOP), 7) Civil Affairs Operations, 8) Foreign Internal Defense, 9)Counterinsurgency, 10) Multi-National Special Operations, 11) Irregular Warfare 12) Interagency Activities and Interoperability and 13) Security Force Assistance. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of special operations or interagency subject matter areas and issues that directly impact current or future Joint Special Operations doctrine, strategy, concepts of operations, operational procedures or systems and other functional issues. Knowledge of US defense policy, national military/security strategy, history of Special Operations Forces, illustrative military operations, organizational structures, command and control mechanisms, Multi-National Special Operations Forces and the capabilities/application of Special Operations Forces across the spectrum of conflict. It is desireble to possess and advanced degree. Knowledge at the expert level in one or more of the following subject matter areas: 1) Joint SOF Doctrine/SOF C2 structure, 2) SOF Air Operations, 3) SOF Maritime Operations, 4) Unconvenational Warfare, 5) Counterterrorism, 6) Psychological Operations (PSYOP), 7) Civil Affairs Operations, 8) Foreign Internal Defense, 9) Counterinsurgency, 10) Multi-National Special Operations, 11) Irregular Warfare and 12) Interagency Activities and Interoperability. Ability to effectively deliver instruction in professional military education courses and through various instructional technology mediums. Ability to communicate in writing in orderto present innovative and complex ideas to a divergent US military, interagency and international partner audience. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Maintain currency in specific joint military of interagency operational subject areas; and research, analyze and publish on critical Joint Special Operations Forces (JSOF) issues and operations.
