TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-09 GRADE LEVEL, APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Transportation Specialist, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes performing supervisory functions such as establishing priorities and deadlines, planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, and providing instruction to staff; managing transportation program activities such as transport, claims, travel modes, mileage, and reimbursement; assisting with budget and financial activities such as balancing, reconciling, and adjusting invoices for payments of transportation services; analyzing data and generating a variety of reports; and applying transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a wide variety transportation support assignments. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You must have successfully completed a Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B., J.D., if related, with a major field of study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~ COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You must have equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, which may be used to meet total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position and must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. This position will operate in the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) within the Health Administration Service, at either the Portland, Oregon or Vancouver, Washington VA Medical Center, which involve several Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC). The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the Motor Vehicle Operators and Motor Vehicle Dispatchers as well as the Travel Functions of the VTS.
