To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-04: Six (6) months specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-03 grade level and Six (6) months General experience -OR- Successful completion of 2 years of study in pharmacy or pharmacy technology that included at least 12 semester hours in courses in the care, storage, distribution, and preparation of pharmaceuticals, and appropriate laboratory work. GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level and -OR- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses. GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level and -OR- Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of: Pharmaceutical nomenclature; Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
The purpose of this position involves the preparation, review, dispensing and control of medications and other pharmaceutical products to patients, inpatients nursing staff or physicians under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Incumbent reports to the Pharmacy Chief under the Division of Clinical Services – Pharmacy Branch at the Crownpoint Healthcare Facility in Crownpoint, NM.
