Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Welder ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Experience Requirement: I have the ability to perform common welding duties. I can use electric, acetylene and/or inert gas to weld metals of various sizes, shapes and thicknesses; interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, jigs, positioning and clamping templates, and laying out work to repair, modify and/or fabricate metal items; determine appropriate welding techniques and machine settings to be used; select proper size and type of electrodes and/or rods. Physical Effort: Work requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, climbing, crawling and working on elevated platforms. Work may be in cramped and awkward positions. Handles objects weighing up to, and occasionally greater than, 50 pounds while setting up and performing work. Working Conditions: Will be required to work indoors and outdoors in the elements. Indoor work will be performed on concrete floors. Travel to temporary duty locations may be required. Work areas may be dirty, smoky and noisy with constant exposure to odors and fumes. Workers are subject to the typical discomforts associated with personal protective equipment to prevent smoke inhalation, burns, cuts, eye injuries and bruises.
