Supply Technician

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower level of Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience includes: providing equipment to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; receiving, storing and distributing medical equipment; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials. EDUCATION: Successful completion of four (4) years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. If you are qualifying on education, transcripts are required. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. If you qualify by a combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs, for example, when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items or conducting physical inventories in warehouses, and other storage areas, or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. This position is in the Property Management Division within Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that durable medical equipment (DME) is distributed to Veterans and services serviced by PSAS.
