HELICOPTER PILOT (TITLE 32)

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion). Maximum Military Grade – CW3 (W-3) Warrant Officer – Branch 15 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certifications or appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies (knowledge, skills and abilities). GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least one year of experience at the GS 11 grade level that reflects qualification competencies in the following three factors: the aircraft operated; the nature and purposes of assignments; and the degree of hazard. The specialized experience must demonstrate your ability to operate a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation; review and analyze mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; file flight plans and conduct crew briefings; perform aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments; perform or supervise work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance; competently conduct or supervise the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks; and develop plans and policies, monitor operations, and advise commanders; and experience that demonstrates knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures; unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with appropriate policies, regulations, and directives. GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least one year of experience at the GS 10 grade level that reflects qualification competencies in the following three factors: the aircraft operated; the nature and purposes of assignments; and the degree of hazard. The specialized experience must also reflect the ability to perform a variety of piloting administrative tasks performed in support of an Army National Guard aviation program, experiences include the abilities to train and instruct others in the piloting of a main-frame military aircraft. Must have competencies in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation; and reviewing and analyzing mission tasks, intelligence, and weather information. Must possess experience supervising and/or filing of flight plans and conducting crew briefings; experience with aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments; and experience performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, and/or reconnaissance. Must possess skills to conduct training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. These experiences may include developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders; and flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures. Must possess experience in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of Defense, Department of the Army, National Guard Bureau, and/or Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies, regulations, and directives. This position may be filled at the GS-11 trainee grade or the target grade of GS-12. An applicant who is selected at the trainee grade will have potential for promotion to the target grade of GS-12 without further competition. Promotion to full operating/journeyman level will be made after qualifications and eligibility requirements have been met and the incumbent is performing at the higher level in a satisfactory manner. This National Guard position is for an Indefinite with Right to Convert GS-2181-11/12 HELICOPTER PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2930000(GS 11)/D2929000 (GS 12) and is part of the MO Army Aviation Support Facility Whiteman AFB.
