All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/18/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Basic Requirements for 0401 series: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. – AND – To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Designing and managing plant or wildlife monitoring programs; Conducting field studies of plant or wildlife populations; Collecting plant or wildlife study data and summarizing the data results in standard reports; Performing data collection, field observations, and taking field measurements utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies; Providing professional and technical advise to managers and other staff members on natural resource program requirements; Evaluating natural resource programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s equivalent graduate degree from an accredited educational institution concentrated in a field that is directly related to the work of this position. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the percentage of qualifying graduate education by dividing your number of semester hours in excess of 18 semester hours by 18 or the number your school uses to represent one year of full time graduate academic study. Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience. For example, an applicant with 6 months of appropriate experience equivalent to GS-7 (50 percent of the experience requirement for GS-9) and 27 semester hours of appropriate graduate education (50 percent of the education requirement for GS-9) would be qualified for a GS-9 position You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is located at Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site, in the Southern Four Corners Group, Division of Integrated Resource Management. Position will serve three parks: Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site, Ganado AZ (Home Park) Canyon de Chelly, Chinle, AZ Navajo National Monument(s), Shonto, AZ Open to the first 50 applicants or until 11/18/2024 whichever comes first.
