Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Dispatcher) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include operating a forklift and motor vehicle to move, stack, or position materials within allotted warehouse space specifications; reviewing incoming shipments of stock by comparing items to reports or invoices; storing hazardous materials in proper locations safely; AND computing cube and/or weight criteria on outgoing shipments with the appropriate transportation office. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Stands, walks, stoops, bends, reaches, pushes, pulls, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries materials that weigh up to 30 pounds, and at times may handle items weighing over 30 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, backing, and turning, starting and stopping forklifts and trucks, to include raising lowering and tilting loads on the forklift. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted areas; works on open docks or in outside storage yards. Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders, or injury from materials handling equipment. May be subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading vehicles. May be exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving in all types of traffic and weather.
About the Position: Serves as a materials handler with responsibility for independent accomplishment of warehouse operations involving a variety of warehouse functions.
