You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for the Senior ERISA Program Advisor, as described below. Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-14, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Specialized Experience for this position is defined as: experience in analyzing legal issues involving: Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) or other similar health laws, polices and regulations; and experience reviewing and evaluating ERISA covered health plans and a variety of other health and insurance products and vehicles.
This position is located in the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretarys for Program Operations, which is responsible for working closely with the Assistant Secretary. The organization formulates and directs the short- and long-term policies, programs, and goals of the agency and promotes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders in order to promote a better understanding of compliance with the employee retirement income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
