Maintenance Mechanic

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Maintenance Mechanic duties including installing electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning components; utilizing hand and power tools to complete carpentry or painting work; repairing doors, windows, and/or flooring. I can load cargo into trucks or van for transport. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Light physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 20 pounds and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo, making couplings between vehicle and towed equipment requires moderate physical effort in that heavy chains, bars, hooks, etc., must be lifted and properly secured. Requirements for standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires considerable walking, standing on concrete floors, and climbing stairways and ladders. Light-to-moderate effort is used to turn valves and controls. Works in stretched, cramped and awkward positions. Considerable standing while working on ladders or scaffolds. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather. Comes in contact with running motors, pumps, and machinery, Cuts, bruises, and broken bones may result from accidents. Subject to possible injury from vehicle accident. Works in cramped quarters inside and outside; exposed to mud and water; dirty, dusty and greasy conditions and injury from use of power and hand tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
About the Position: This position is located with the Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Moore, GA. Incumbent will perform a variety of tasks involved with the upkeep of buildings, grounds, fixtures, utilities, and equipment.
