Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sept 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Formal education will include an Associate’s degree or higher in recreation or related field. First aid and CPR certification at a level equal to or exceeding Outdoor Emergency Care or Wilderness First Responder & Swift Water Rescue Technician certification required (or must obtain within 6 months of employment). Applicant must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals and groups. Working knowledge and ability to teach/lead outdoor activities, i.e. white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, ATVing, snow machining, etc. Must have knowledge that ensures compliance with regulations, laws and requirements for health and safety. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and pre-employment drug test. Must be at least 21 years of age for issuance of alcohol.
About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richarson, AK. This position is also Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility.
