Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. Specific instructions are provided as to type of vehicle to be operated, destination, purpose of trip and work to be done. Incumbent must safely conduct passengers or cargo to their destination, following safety rules, regulations, and traffic signs, and will oversee and assist in loading and unloading the vehicle, assuring that the cargo is properly arranged for best support. Incumbent’s ability is regularly observed and evaluated, and trip tickets are checked for compliance with regulations and completeness. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 50 pounds and in pushing heavy furniture, and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and also outside, and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicles. Continuous standing, walking, stooping, or lifting is required. May be subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving in traffic and inclement weather. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

About the Position: Driver operates one or more motor vehicles including 15 passenger van, pickup trucks, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 10,000 lbs. Transport personnel, supplies, or materials, throughout the installation. Performs manual labor tasks using common hand tools and simple power equipment.
