In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Leading a multidisciplinary development team or technology projects that include creating specifications, statement of work, requirements, trades, drawings, analysis, evaluations, and/or end-to-end qualification performance testing for LASER Instrument Electrical Power System electronics development; Performing project management in all phases of the project’s life cycle including the cost, evaluation, and schedule control of space flight LASER Electrical Power System electronics development and custom Ground Support Equipment for specialized performance evaluation of in and out-of-house LASER Power Electronics; Performing laboratory research, troubleshooting, and resolving manufacturing issues of space flight LASER Power Systems electronics including the development of specialized test equipment with the ability to investigate, resolve problems, and test to provide long term reliability in the LASER Power Electronics area and achieve mission requirements. The Power Systems Branch is looking for someone with unique technical and programmatic skills to join their team as a Senior Power Systems Engineer specializing in space flight applications for LASER Electrical Power Systems development. The work involves architecture development oversight and demonstration of leading-edge technology on power electronics supporting all facets of space-borne and landed crafts.
