WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I – All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC – E6/SSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC – E6/SSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E4/SPC – E6/SSG) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training ensuring safety regulations and overall compliance with appropriate regulations are upheld along with planning, coordinating, and assisting the Range Operations Officer in directing operations for the Range and Training Area. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience making recommends measures to correct deficiencies or eliminate hazards when detected on ranges, maneuver training areas, or live training facilities; before, during, or after live training operations. Experience coordinating with unit range safety officers to assist developing risk assessments and implementing controls and mitigations of identified hazards when planning training exercises. Experience providing Range and Training Area with current range safety information regarding the safe conduct and utilization of ranges that includes, training restrictions and procedures for fire prevention, ammunition security measures, and controlled airspace impacts to live fire activities. Experience upholding strict compliance with environmental regulations to include providing instructions for thorough policing of all ammunition, brass, debris, trash, residue by using units.
