To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/25/2024. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of attendance rules and regulations to post time, enter and correct time and attendance records into the automated data systems; update pay records and correct errors in the automated systems; provide information and respond to questions pertaining to holiday pay, overtime and premium pay, shift differential; code and respond to questions pertaining to various types of leave, overtime, compensatory time, on-call, various categories of time, leave, and types of special pay to determine appropriateness of hours charged, types of leave used, and types of special pay authorized; and the appropriate forms to be completed by the employees and/or supervisors. Knowledge of the time and attendance rules and regulations as they pertain to the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Program to respond to supervisors’ and employees’ questions and post claimants’ COP, leave buybacks, the difference between regular Leave Without Pay (LWOP) and OWCP LWOP. Skill in basic arithmetic calculations for computing bi-weekly balance, leave records for the transfer of T&A data from Daily Time and Attendance Sheets to computerized T&A reporting sheets. Skill in operating a computer terminal and other electronic office equipment to code, enter and retrieve data from several automated data systems. Knowledge of a body of rules, procedures, or operations applicable to clerical assignments, such as preparing various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining files/records, and reviewing and processing mail. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have four (4) years of education above high school (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond four (4) years of high school. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate: The ability to type 40 words per minute Computer Skills Database Administration Critical Thinking Customer Service Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds. The Primary Purpose of this Position is: maintain precise and timely submission of the time and attendance records for Environmental Management Service (EMS) employees and performs timekeeping duties and responsibilities of posting time and attendance records, timecards, via hospital computer system for full-time and part-time employees.
