Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Dispatch emergency personnel (police, fire, medical, hazmat, rescue) as necessary; 2) Obtain pertinent information from callers to ascertain the nature of their emergency or request for assistance; 3) Provide clear and precise instructions to callers in high stress conditions; AND 4) Utilize dispatching and/or law enforcement communication systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Interpersonal Skills Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

About the Position: Incumbent, as an Emergency Services Dispatcher, provides emergency police, fire, and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.
