QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING)

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing quality assurance inspections, reviews, or audits of shipbuilding programs to support the design, development, or acquisition of ships. Examples of qualifying experience may include (1) comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the various disciplines such as structural, mechanical and electrical standards/specifications/procedures as they apply to the design and construction of naval combatant ships; (2) knowledge of the full range of principles, concepts and methodology related to a Contract Quality Assurance Program and considerable skill in applying this knowledge to the planning and accomplishment of a variety of difficult and complex work assignments; (3) broad knowledge of complex products including pertinent quality characteristics, manufacturing methods and techniques, special processes, interrelationship of functional parts and subassemblies, measurement and test techniques and skill in developing plans and approaches calculated to ensure effective control of product quality as they relate to the specific functional area to which they are assigned-Structural/Mechanical/Electrical/Paint and Preservation; (4) broad knowledge of auditing and quality control methods, concepts, principles, and practices required to conduct effective measurements of the contractor’s/sub-contractors systems/or products and to prepare documented reports on findings of conditions or trends; (5) thorough and detailed knowledge of and skill in applying various methods and techniques for investigation, analyzing and effecting corrective action on complex quality problems.
