MACHINIST

Military Grades: Enlisted (E-5 and below) Compatible Military Assignments: Must hold AFSC 2A7X2 or have the ability to cross train to 2A7X2 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training performing the full range of machining operations on mosttypes of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience or training inplanning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing orincorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such asthose required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces andangles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNCmachine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric andtrigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual orcompound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.
