Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must meet the Basic Requirements and the minimum qualifications to qualify for each grade they wish to be considered for. Basic Requirement: A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR B. Combination of education and experience–courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, applicants must also meet the minimum qualifications to be considered: CG-13 To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as work as an Economist using principles and theories to perform analyses of the financial services industry; financial markets; real estate markets; and national, international, or regional economic developments; to design and use financial and data analysis models; and to analyze written reports and quantitative data. CG-14 To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 13 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as work as an Economist using principles and theories to perform analyses of the financial services industry; financial markets; real estate markets; and national, international, or regional economic developments; to design and use financial and data analysis models; and to analyze written reports and quantitative data. This experience requires conceptualization of large or complex economic problems (such as but not limited to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) calculations, economic forecasting and/or modeling, recessionary effects, real estate, energy, agriculture, fiscal policy implications, international economic impact on the national economy) and the development of new techniques and original methods.
This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Dallas, TX of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of projects related to enhancing the Corporations programs for identifying, monitoring and addressing existing and emerging aggregate risks to the Corporations deposit insurance funds.
