To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05 Medical Support Assistant (OA): Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of tasks: Working with patient registration and patient related data management computer systems; interviewing patients to obtain demographic and third party insurance information; maintaining record confidentiality and safeguarding patient information; and creating various documents and reports using computer software. OR Successful completion of 4 years of education above the high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Must submit Transcripts) OR Combination of education and experience what when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for the position. Only Education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialize experience requirement. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-05 grade level. (Must submit Transcripts) TYPING PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting experience requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following typing skill. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. You must be able to type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
The position is located in the Patient Admissions Section of the Patient Business Service office of the Whiteriver Services Unit. The incumbent provides registration and eligibility services which are the key point of interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance Information for Alternate Resources, Contract Health Services and private/commercial insurance. This position is located in Whiteriver, AZ.
