BASIC ELIGIBILITY Applicants must: Have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from the date of application; OR As a veteran (as defined in 5 USC 2108), who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Program during the two-year eligibility period described above. These individuals have a full two-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may this eligibility period extend beyond six years from the date on which the individual completed their academic requirements. To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required education and/or experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify for the GS-07 grade level, if you have: EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level (or equivalent) performing the following duties: Assisting with administrative duties for an organization (e.g. reviewing documents, writing/editing documents); and Responding to inquiries in a timely manner. OREDUCATION:A. One (1) full year of graduate level education leading to a master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited institution that included major study in a related field of study such as Public Policy, Government Affairs, Political Science, Pre-Law, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity. OR B. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that included major study in the field of study described in statement “A” above with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) is based on one of the following:(1) Class Standing – Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR(2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) – Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B” or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B+” or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR NOTE: Grade-point averages are rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9.(3) Honor Society Membership – Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. -OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage by dividing your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then determine your education as a percentage by dividing the total number of completed graduate education by 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify at this grade level. You qualify for the GS-09 grade level, if you have: EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) performing the following duties: Assist leadership with administrative duties for an organization (e.g. reviewing correspondence, writing/editing documents, records management); Updating tracking systems and responding to inquiries in a timely manner; and Conducting research to assist with implementing policies and procedures. -OR EDUCATION: A. Master’s or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited institution that included major study in related field of study such as Public Policy, Government Affairs, Political Science, Pre-Law, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity. OR B. Two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree from an accredited institution that included major study in the field of study described in statement “A” above. OR C. LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) or J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree, if related OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage by dividing your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then determine your education as a percentage by dividing the total number of completed graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate education minus 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours) by 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
