Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Linen Control Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform the most common to complex Linen Control Worker duties involving the distribution of linen. Have the ability read and write, and have simple arithmetic skills. Skilled using the proper methods and procedures for handling soiled and contaminated linen, isolating contaminated material, and identifying quality and condition of various types of linen and their respective use. Skilled using the proper procedures for receiving, inspecting, issuing, and surveying linen. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: The incumbent performs work on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, in work areas that require bending, stooping, and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. The incumbent may lift and carry items that weigh up to 8 kilograms (40 pounds). The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. This position requires standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing linen carts, and lifting supplies and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds. This also pertains to housekeeping equipment, appliances, and supplies. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Linen work is usually indoors, in areas with proper lighting and ventilation. Housekeeping work is generally performed indoors, in areas with proper lighting and ventilation, although, some work may require external trash collection and removal.
About the Position: This position is located within the Linen Division, Materials Management Department, Directorate for Administration at the Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Incumbent will perform a variety of tasks in connection with collecting, storing, examining, weighing, surveying, distribution, and inventorying linen, as well as ensuring contingency or disaster carts are always prepared.
