Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: Is defined as overseeing repair and construction of marine vessel projects; and/or evaluating ship design to confirm their functionality and conformance with specifications; and/or identifying alternative methods to recommend modifications to standard ship architectural practices; and/or developing technical documentation for design, repair and testing of ship hull or ship systems and equipment as a technical expert. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service which is at the GS-12 level.
About the Position: This position is located within the Marine Design Center, Design Branch, Hull Section. You will have supervisory responsibility for directing the work of 8-12 subordinates, primarily naval architects and technicians.
