TITLE 32 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (MI 110 LRS)

Military Grades: E1 – E6 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Months Required: 24 Experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs. Experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions. Experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides. Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively. Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures. Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges. Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement. Experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Managing or participating in managing a transportation or traffic program involving (1) operating a transport or traffic system to move passengers or commodities of an organization when there is accountability for operating costs, (2) operating a transportation system to provide common carrier types of services to shippers, and (3) procuring common or other carriers and other transportation services to move an organization’s personnel, freight, and/or other commodities. Conducting or participating in conducting surveys and studies of the traffic management function, operating methods, procedures, and performance. Making presentations on traffic matters before Federal, State, or local regulatory bodies. Performing loss and damage prevention work when this included responsibilities such as policy and procedures formulation and studies of traffic operations and services. Negotiating with carriers and/or regulatory bodies on questions of rates, transit privileges and charges, special services and charges thereof, and classification of commodities. Providing advisory service involving commodity analysis from the transportation standpoint.
THIS IS AN AIR FORCE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (MI 110 LRS), Position Description Number D1481000 and is part of the MI 110 Airlift Wing, Michigan Air National Guard. This is a Temporary Indefinite vacancy for an appointment of 2 years.
