Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Sheet Metal Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common tasks including fabricating, assembling and installing a variety of articles of sheet metal; experience forming and fastening parts using various hand tools and equipment and assisting others with sheet metal work. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use Hand Tools, Power Tools, etc., for Metal Work Dexterity (Assembly, Disassembly, Reassembly, etc.) Knowledge of Equipment, Structure, Materials, etc. (Includes Constructing, Repair, and Forging) Layout and Pattern Development (Includes Geometric Projection and Triangulation) Physical Effort: You will be required to expend great physical effort spending long periods of time in continuous exertion when bending and shaping complex items and in constructing large bulky systems. Climbs up and down ladders and scaffolding; stands for prolonged periods; works in cramped and awkward positions while installing items; and reaches, lifts and bends while using hand and powered tools. Lifts weights up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: This position requires most of work to be performed indoors. Is subject to a moderate amount of noise and vibration from shop machines, poor illumination and ventilation and unpleasant odors. Is subject to cuts, bruises, falls, and burns while working with tools; subjected to hazards of working around moving machinery; and to explosive hazards while working on production equipment while explosive operations are in progress. Workers may be required to wear appropriate safety gear such as protective eyewear.
