Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) planning the activities of a security guard force shift, (2) performing access control or visitor control center operations, and (3) administering training to ensure personnel are equipped to protect against threats to property and personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Incident Response Instructional Delivery and Learner Development Interpersonal Skills Managing Human Resources Oral Communication Physical Security Security Assessment Security Equipment Operation Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????08).
About the Position: The Supervisory Security Guard assigns work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, set priorities, and deadlines. The incumbent independently plans and assigns work through subordinate supervisors. You are expected to be available to assist with problems that are controversial or involve policy. The work of this supervisor is considered authoritative, and is reviewed for technical conformity and attainment of organizational objectives.
