To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/16/2022. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 Level and for a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 Level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Basic Requirements:
Education. Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the Basic Education Requirement, in order to meet the minimum qualifications for this position you must also meet one of the following: GS-12
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Experience administering research regulatory committees; knowledge of theories, principles, concepts and methodologies of the health sciences field; knowledge of the human research program operations and project management; understanding of the scientific objectives of the human research program; understanding of research regulations and good clinical practices; knowledge of the clinical therapeutic area; and integrated knowledge of research procedures and regulations, clinical project life-cycle management and the phases of the drug development process. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Experience administering research regulatory committees; mastery knowledge of theories, principles, concepts and methodologies of the health sciences field; in-depth and detailed knowledge of the human research program operations and project management; advanced understanding of the scientific objectives of the human research program; advanced understanding of research regulations and good clinical practices; advanced knowledge of the clinical therapeutic area; and integrated knowledge of research procedures and regulations, clinical project life-cycle management and the phases of the drug development process.

This Health Science Specialist position is in Research services at the White River Junction VA Medical Center, located in White River Junction, VT. This position is full-time at 40 per week.
