IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT The ideal candidate for the Administrative Support Specialist (Office Manager) position has experience performing a variety of secretarial and administrative duties of an office. The candidate possesses analytical skills to compile and analyze various reports, correspondence, and other information obtained from judge(s), files, and other sources. The candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, and can communicate both effectively orally and in writing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the GS-09, Administrative Support Specialist (Office Manager), and that is typically related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Experience receiving, preparing, reviewing and editing correspondence for signature of senior officials to assure consistency with agency procedures on completeness, timeliness, and format standards. Experience responding to internal and external inquiries and providing general instructions regarding activities of the office and/or agency; and Experience providing administrative support to include logistics, supply management, and support services within an office and/or agency. This experience must be fully supported and articulated in your resume to receive consideration. Or EDUCATION: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT All current and former Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-09 grade level. (NOTE: All current Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 “Notice of Personnel Action” that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive). NOTE. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). This position is located in the Branch Offices of the Division of Administrative Law Judges (ALJs). The Division functions under the administrative direction of the Board and consists of approximately 31 administrative judges who serve under the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act and the Labor Management Relations Act of 1947, as amended.
