No assumptions will be made about your experience. GS-5: one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include preparing general correspondence, operation of a front desk, collecting money, selling maps, or other items, OR Successful completion of four years of higher education above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree. OR A combination of experience and education to meet total experience. GS-06: To be qualified for the GS-06 this specialized experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade (one year at the GS-5) of the position to be filled. Examples include operating a front desk, collecting money for goods or services, balancing daily registers, maintaining cooperative working relationships with others; and explaining information or ideas (orally and in writing) to others in a logical manner. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands/Work Environment: The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The incumbent may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and /or carry file folder’s copied materials, books, and other similar materials. Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles.
