The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. Demonstrated experience in applying the theories, principles, and practices of engineering to the design, construction, and/or operation of nuclear power plants. 2. Demonstrated ability to apply NRC regulations for reactor design, operations, maintenance, engineering, and plant support consistent with that gained through completion of inspector qualifications. 3. Demonstrated abilities in the implementation of the Agency’s Reactor Oversight Process including inspection, application of the significance determination and performance assessment processes, and ability to use risk to evaluate events and inspection findings. 4. Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing. This includes demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisors, Government and industry officials, utility employees and managers, Government committees, co-workers, media personnel, NRC officials and senior managers, as well as the ability to write technical reports containing findings, analyses, and conclusions. 5. Demonstrated experience in organizing and leading a multi-disciplined inspection team, developing consensus positions on controversial technical matters and achieving cooperative resolution of inspection related differences with the licensee and NRC staff. In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for this position you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as: The ability to implement the NRC regulatory program, including application of NRC standards, rules, and regulations for nuclear facilities. Candidates must have experience that demonstrates sufficient knowledge of basic nuclear technology, operating safety procedures, radiological safety, codes, standards, and procedures. This position is located in the Division of Operating Reactor Safety, Region III. The supervisor is Billy Dickson, Deputy Division Director.
