QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C, Qualification Standard Handbook) will be used in determining applicants’ qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through the experience shown in your written resume and your responses to the Occupational Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties of this position without more than normal supervision. ABILITY TO USE AND MAINTAIN TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT. USE OF MEASURING INSTRUMENTS. ABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATIONS, ETC. (INCLUDE BLUEPRINT READING) TROUBLESHOOTING As an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leader, I have performed work as a journeyman level mechanic without more than normal supervision in repairing major components and assemblies on diesel engineering equipment and automotive equipment and engines. I have performed difficult and complex tasks involving troubleshooting, diagnosing, overhauling, repairing, and modifying vehicles/equipment. I have performed the above work on heavy mobile equipment (example: dump trucks, garbage packers, sewer pumpers, loaders, graders, rollers, paving machines) with a high level of independence. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date.
This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Colville Agency, Transportation in Nespelem, Washington.
