**BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: **PHYSICAL SCIENTIST, GS-1301: At all grade levels, applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Physical Scientist GS-1301. A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours or the equivalent in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. **OR B. A combination of education and experience–education equivalent to one of the majors shown in “A” above (24 semester hours or the equivalent in physical science, engineering, or mathematics) that included at least 24 semester hours or the equivalent in physical science and/or related engineering science as described above, plus appropriate experience and/or additional education for a total of 4 years. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in “A” above. A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or a field directly related to the position. **OR B. A combination of education and experience–education equivalent to one of the majors shown in “A” above Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours or the equivalent in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science), plus appropriate experience and/or additional education for a total of 4 years. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in “A” above. QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for the GS-14 level, for both Physical Science and Data Science series, applicants must have one full year of specialized experience that is in or directly related to the duties of the position to be filled. The qualifying specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, and must have equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of GS-13 level work may include: Leading and evaluating multi-year statutory, regulatory or legal requirements including planning, strategies, policy, guidance, compliance, communication, information and reporting in furthering strategic goals, objectives, and activities of an organization. Experience developing policy and demonstrating understanding of the inter-dependency of various operational, financial, economic, regulatory, and legal aspects of the geospatial industry. Experience performing analytical, evaluative, advisory, or comparable work, developing policy positions relating to multi-modal geospatial and thematic data, AND articulating those policy positions before multilateral organizations, industry groups, and/or federal, state, local, tribal, foreign government officials as a regular and recurring part of your job with minimal supervision. Developing strategic approaches, working across multiple stakeholder groups, for advancing Federal, national/international and/or large organizational initiatives. Planning and evaluating complex projects supporting performance and program management; applying advanced analytical methods assessing program statutory, regulatory or legal requirements. Leading the development and management of complex geospatial activities with multiple partner agencies You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
This is not a remote position. Selectee will be required to report to the agreed upon location. If the agreed upon location results in the relocation of the selectee, the travel, transportation, and relocation expenses are not authorized.
