SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate’s online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-12] in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience in a high voltage electric power setting performing duties in operations, maintenance, engineering or construction disciplines which includes formal or informal leadership of work through other craft/wage grade/wage board employees. Examples of experience would be: 1) Replacements and additions to power system substations, high voltage transmission lines or other facilities; 2) Makes recommendations on remedial measures for the solution of complex electrical problems; and 3) Experience incorporating a data driven approach to planning and prioritization of maintenance and construction projects. “Experience” refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is part of the Southwestern Power Administration. As a Regional Maintenance Manager, you will execute programs and projects relative to maintaining SWPAs high-voltage, electric power transmission system including Rights of Way (ROW), substations, switchyards, communication sites, certain U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) substations and switchyards, and other SWPA building and support facilities. **This is not a remote position.**
