Education: Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts as proof of any claimed education.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts as proof of any claimed education and your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.) *AND* ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience described below: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sector) performing 3 or more of the following: (1) recommending innovative solutions to noxious weed management, invasive species, or pesticide use issues; (2) serving as an advisor on matters related to wildlife management, invasive species, and/or pesticide use programs;(3) implementing invasive species prevention/control or pesticide use policies to protect natural resources on public lands; (4) assisting in the development of an organization’s annual work plan or budget for program activities. (NOTE: Your resume must clearly describe this experience.) TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as “varies”.
This position is duty station negotiable within a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oregon or Washington State Office. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight of the noxious weed, invasive species, grasshoppers and Mormon crickets, and pesticide use programs on lands administered by the organization.
