To qualify for the position of Utility Systems Repairer Operator at (WG-4742-11), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you’re applying to. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Leader without more than normal supervision: Laying out assignments for others; Demonstrating how to set up and operate tools; and Performing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) mechanical repair work. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling are required. Work may be performed in cramped or awkward positions. Lifts objects weighing from 20-50 pounds, and upon occasion, in excess of 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Works indoors in areas that usually have adequate light, heat, and fresh air, as well as outdoors in all kinds of weather. Is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, shock, broken bones, and burns. Protective clothing and devices must be worn to minimize the potential for accidents. This position is with the Justice Management Division, Facilities and Administrative Services Staff (FASS), Justice Building Services Staff. The Justice Buildings Services is responsible for performing functions with respect to the operations, maintenance, repair, preservation, alteration, furnishing, equipment and custody of the Robert F. Kennedy, Main Justice Building (RFK).
