Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have 1-year specialized experience of which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04) level, or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as: working experience with ensuring security credential requests are processed accurately and expeditiously; helping with performing quality reviews on the data and information submitted for consistency, completeness, and accuracy within regulatory requirements; experience with determining appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up; helping to process and protect sensitive information ensuring total confidentiality. OR EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed 4-years above high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education has been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions. Knowledge of installation access policies and investigation processes. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations and produce a variety of documents and reports. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The primary purpose of this position SECURITY ASSISTANT NK-0086-02 is to perform technical reviews, process security installation access requests, controlled and restricted area media access requests, requests for a multitude of various controlled and accountable media permitting access to national security areas, granting permission to conduct criminal investigations.
