Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer (Motor Vehicle Operator) duties. Assist higher level mechanics to disassemble engines, gear boxes, transmissions or other heavy mobile equipment and vehicle components. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort – Works in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. The work requires frequent and prolonged standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds, and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of others, or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Works from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. Working Conditions – Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. When indoors, is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outdoors, occasionally works in inclement weather, in heat, mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both indoors and outdoors, exposure to irritations and discomfort from dust, grease, heat, asbestos, and fumes. Typically works on parts and systems which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Is subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as protective hearing devices, hard-toe shoes, and other safety equipment. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods of time.
