Knowledge and Skills In order to perform the major duties listed above, a senior analyst must: have knowledge of state and federal Medicaid and CHIP policy and program issues; apply critical thinking and analysis skills by: identifying themes, key takeaways, and trends from interviews, data runs, literature reviews, and other data sources; demonstrating ability to construct an argument regarding a policy question and using evidence to support the argument; and identifying policy solutions that can be expressed as Commission recommendations. manage tasks such as: taking ownership of multiple projects under various deadlines, maintaining communication with supervisors and other team members; and serving as project officer for external research and policy contracts. engage in learning and development by: seeking out and responding to feedback from supervisors and colleagues; and proactively working to develop new knowledge and skills needed to take on tasks in principal analyst job description. demonstrate teamwork and accountability by: supporting the growth, expertise, and knowledge of colleagues by sharing information (e.g., leading brown bags, forwarding relevant articles); and providing constructive feedback for annual reviews of self and peers.
