You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. General Experience: For the GS-4 grade level, general experience must include one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR Education: 2 years above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR Combination: You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. Specialized Experience: For the GS-5 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Communicating effectively orally and in writing; AND Plan and organize work; AND Identify problems, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR Combination: You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
