The GS-13 salary range starts at $117,962 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. This position has a positive education requirement: Applicants must submit a copy of their college or university transcript(s) and certificates by the closing date of announcements to verify the education qualifications outlined below. If selected, an official transcript will be required prior to appointment. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR PERFORMANCE AUDITORS: A. Degree: auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration, or accounting. OR B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant’s background must also include one of the following: 1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or 2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY AT THE GS-13 LEVEL: To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must meet the basic requirements for performance auditors listed above AND have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position is experience conducting complex performance audits applying the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) or complex inspections and evaluations applying the Council of Inspectors General for Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluation; playing a significant role in analyzing and evaluating management issues and problems relating to inspections, evaluations, and quality assurance; developing strong justifications and/or recommendations and alternative solutions; and, participating in the review of operating policies and procedures associated with risks.
