BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. Education A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Basic Requirements for the GS-12 Grade Level In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing oversight and direction in establishing and maintaining a system of nursing practices, coordinating patient care and services; collaborating with other disciplines toward resolution of patient’s problems. Planning with other members of the health care team, special details of patient care to provide continuity of care; functioning as nursing house supervisor or nurse manager and/or providing direct patient care. Knowledge of principles, methods and tools of Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement and Quality Controls. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Located at the Cass Lake Service Unit in Cass Lake, MN. CLSU provides inpatient & outpatient care, which includes Emergency Department & Ambulatory Clinics. Director of Nursing has oversight of nursing practice at CLSU. Incumbent functions as the Assistant Director of Nursing under the supervision of DON & assists with planning, organizing, directing & monitoring activities of the Department & other assigned depts. Assumes full responsibility of the SU nursing program in the absence of the DON.
