You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: General Experience: You must have one year of general experience that is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing administrative assistance such as keyboarding, answering phones, scheduling, copying filing and electronic record maintenance; utilizing software programs to enter, retrieve and edit data; preparing written correspondences, reports and memos; and utilizing computers, computer systems and office programs. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two years’ education in any field above high school graduation (or equivalent). This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. (Note: One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond one year. (Note: Only your education in excess of one year may be substituted for experience when qualifying on a combination of experience and education). You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Clerical Computer Skills Critical Thinking Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Planning and Evaluating Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: You will be asked to participate in a pre-employment examination or evaluation as part of the pre-employment process for this position. Questions about physical demands or environmental factors may be addressed at the time of evaluation or examination. The work requires sitting, lifting, walking, standing, stooping, bending, carrying, climbing ladders, crawling. Physical demands are required for assignments for Maintenance Worker duties. Office duties require no special physical demands. Work Environment: The work is performed in several environments which include office settings, mechanical spaces and grounds. Exposure to office, shop, mechanical, confined and hazardous spaces requires commensurate safety precautions. Also included are exposure to driving, hot and cold temperatures and weather conditions and the appropriate level of safety precautions will be exercise. The employees duties and responsibilities are in various administrative and technical areas of Facilities Management Service. In this capacity, the employee renders day to day support to the Engineering Program Managers and Operation and Maintenance Supervisors at Black Hills Health Care System.
