To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates your ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-04 level. OR Two (2) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR A combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-04. (transcripts must be provided). GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Examples include screening and interviewing patients or customers to obtain or verify information; operating personal computers, data processing equipment, and/or office support software for word processing, data entry, or data retrieval; receiving and directing patients and visitors, answering routine inquiries and telephone calls; explaining policies/procedures to patients or customers. OR Four (4) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR A combination of experience and education. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. For example, one full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (transcripts must be provided). Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. This position is located in the Branch of Outpatient Nursing Services, Division of Nursing Services at the Crow Service Unit, and functions as a ward clerk in the Outpatient, with occasional assignments to other clinic areas as needed. The purpose of this position is to provide the clerical and supportive services to health care providers and to facilitate and expedite direct patient care services.
